An Irish family are in mourning after a family member died following a surfing tragedy in New Zealand.
Adrian King, 47, who was from Ohope in New Zealand, died while surfing at Ohope West End Beach on April 9.
Mr King formerly lived in Nenagh, Tipperary and Dunboyne, Meath. He's survived by his wife Sinead and three children.
In a post on their official page, the Salt Spray Surf School paid tribute to their close friend.
"Last Thursday (8th of April) local Whakatane surfer, father and friend of many of us, Adrian King, rode his last wave out at West End, Ohope. A group of our instructors pulled Adrian from the water and we cannot thank them enough for that immense effort. Sadly he was unable to be saved.
"West End Ohope has already been blessed by local Kaumatua and so there is no Tapu over West End after this event. No one saw this coming, especially his family and so this give-a-little page has been set up to give them as much support as possible."
Mr King's memorial took place on Monday and in a post on RIP.ie, Mr King's family state: "The death has occurred of Adrian King, Ohope, New Zealand, formerly Nenagh, Co Tipperary and Rosedale, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, after a tragic surfing accident.
"Sadly missed by his heartbroken and loving soulmate, wife Sinead (Ni Shlatarra, Ballyannymore Nenagh), son Alexander, daughters Alannah and Selena, his mother Janine, father-in-law Jimmy, brothers-in-law, Eoin, Seamus & Brian and a large circle of family and friends."
