Thousands of Irish families had to alter their Christmas dinner arrangements as thousands of people were struck down with Covid.
Some joined their loved ones via phone or laptop screens, others had to do with a phone call and dinner dropped to the door - but one Irish family went viral for their effort.
Tom Wright said on Twitter: "Back in Ireland for Christmas and have to give my incredible brother Peter a shout out. He had a Covid close contact so couldn’t attend Christmas dinner so pulled up a van by the dining room window in torrential rain, fitting it out w/ lights and a table, and ate alongside us."
The picture alongside the tweet saw over 15,000 people like it and many label it genius.
David Rimmer replied: "Our youngest couldn't come in as me and wife both have Covid. He drove round and sat outside on a chair in the rain with an umbrella and blanket on his knees. Only half an hour as it was just too cold. Missed having the family but really cheered us up."
Another praised the Wright's and said: "Now thats the way the Irish do things. Irrational genius…and still funny. Good man."
While a nurse responded: "Thank you for making this Covid ICU RN smile. This is all we’ve been asking. Six feet. Out doors. Masks. Vaccinations. Is it inconvenient? Yes. Is it impossible? No. It just requires creativity and a sense of humour."
