Linfield fined £400 by Irish FA for spectator misconduct at Carrick Rangers game

Linfield have been fined £400 for spectator misconduct at this month's Danske Bank Premiership game against Carrick Rangers.

The Blues were found guilty of breaching Article 33.2 of the Irish FA's disciplinary code.

Article 33.2 of the code reads: " The visiting club is liable for improper conduct among its own group of spectators, regardless of the question of culpable conduct or culpable oversight and depending on the circumstances, may be fined.

"Further sanctions outlined in Article 1.9 of this Code may be imposed. Spectators occupying the away sector of a ground are regarded as the visiting club’s supporters, unless proven by the club to the contrary."

It has also been confirmed that Carrick Rangers goalkeeper Harry Doherty received an automatic two-match suspension.

Doherty - who was sent off after the final whistle - was cited for 'using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures' at the game on March 7.

The ban comes into effect immediately, but is unlikely to be served for some time with football currently suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, the Irish FA's Disciplinary Committee has decided payment for fines will not be due until 14 days after the season recommences.

Normally the financial penalties are due within 14 days of the charge being imposed.
