Irish FA clarify new Covid regulations on non-contact training

The Irish FA has clarified that clubs can partake in non-contact training in groups of up to 15 people.

There had been some confusion over the latest Covid-19 regulations announced by the NI Executive last week.

Those measures came into effect on Friday, including the suspension of all training and matches below elite level.

The Irish FA says 'elite level' includes the Danske Bank Premiership and Women's Premiership, and international football.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the IFA reiterated its stance after saying it had received a "number of queries" following last week's government announcement.

"Whilst we wish to reiterate that football training and games remain suspended below elite level, we recognise that these regulations permit non-contact outdoor sporting events for up to 15 people from different households and some teams may wish to engage in non-football, fitness-only training.

"We would advise that, should clubs wish to do this, they do not exceed 15 persons per pitch and adhere to all government regulations."
