Irish driver landed with €150 takeaway after costly mistake

An Irish driver was landed with a €150 takeaway after costly mistake in Co Kildare.

The motorist was waiting to pick up fast food from a takeaway in the Clane village area on Friday night.

However the driver had parked in a disabled parking bay, and they were spotted by a garda mountain patrol.

A €150 Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the motorist.

And gardai sent a warning to members of the public that disabled parking bays apply 24/7 and not during business hours.

A spokesman wrote on Twitter on Saturday: "While on a mountain bike patrol of Clane village a Garda found a driver parked in a disabled bay waiting for their fast food, €150 FCPN issued.

"Expensive takeaway!!

"Please respect disable parking bays, they are not just for business hours."
