BBC Radio 1 has announced Irish DJ Dave Treacy will be taking over their New Year's Day slot in an exciting project this Christmas.
Dublin based Treacy, who presents a weekend show on RTE 2FM, will be taking control of the UK's biggest youth radio station's airwaves for three hours on January 1st.
The 39-year-old is standing in for popular dance music DJ's Pete Tong and Danny Howard as his "career long goal" is set to be achieved.
Treacy is just one of 33 guest presenters who will be joining the BBC Radio 1 team between Stephen's Day and New Year's Day.
The radio station put out a call for presenters back in October in search for the best in new and emerging talent from across community, hospital, student or local radio.
Dave said: "I'm ecstatic to have realised a career long goal of hosting a show on BBC Radio 1 and to be able to share music with such a great audience."
Treacy set a goal in 2009 to become a regular radio presenter, using Pete Tong as inspiration, and now the Dubliner is filling in for the man himself to kick off 2021.
Dave said he hopes to "shine a spotlight" on Irish dance music producers while also getting the opportunity to chat with some of his favourite artists of the year.
In a message on Instagram he said: "Thank you all so much for your messages and comments on this weeks BBC Radio 1 announcement.
"Really excited to shine a spotlight on some of our Irish Dance Music producers, while standing in for Danny Howard and Pete Tong.
"I'll also be talking to some of my favourite artists of the year as well as playing some exclusive new music coming in 2021."
