Irish cystic fibrosis campaigner Orla Tinsley thanks supporters after suffering health setback

Brave Irish cystic fibrosis campaigner Orla Tinsley reveals she was recently hospitalised again after a setback to her health.

The young woman who had a successful double lung transplant last year, revealed she had to return to hospital to treat "an unusual obstruction".

She shared a photo of a birthday card to her Instagram page, writing: "Thank you everyone for all your love and support and messages.

"Luckily the awesome EMT, ER, surgical and transplant teams @nyphospital were on hand this past week to sort out my unusual obstruction.

"The post transplant life is never totally smooth but compared to most people my experience has been pretty great.

Over 230 organ transplants took place at Irish National Centres this year

"It has taken longer but I am full time back at school, back to life, back at work and living.

"Pausing in the transitory plain of the ER with extreme pain is a reminder of the illusion of it all, of how quickly it can crumble away and how lucky we are to have it.

"Preserving, helping and loving one another now are endless and enduring acts that move us forward together. I am so grateful for all I have received the past week.

"And for you."

Happily, Kildare native Orla was released from hospital in New York just in time to celebrate her 32nd birthday.

As of yet, doctors have advised her not to fly but she is hoping to be well enough to make a trip home to Ireland in September.
