Irish Cup: Unclear whether fans will be allowed to attend semi-finals and final

It remains unclear whether fans will be allowed to attend next month's Irish Cup semi-finals and final.

The NI Executive announced today that competitive sport was set to return on July 17 with limited numbers of outdoor spectators.

The Executive has also agreed to reduce social distancing in Northern Ireland from 2m to 1m.

More details are expected to be published on Monday, but it is unclear whether this will have any impact on the Irish Cup.

It is understood the Irish FA is 'aware' of today's update from the NI Executive.

Like most sporting bodies, the IFA continues to monitor developments regarding Northern Ireland's recovery from Covid-19.

The semi-finals of the competition are due to be played on Monday, July 27 at 4pm and 8pm, with the final four days later on Friday, July 31 (8pm).

All three games will be played at Windsor Park which has an 18,500 capacity, potentially allowing for some form of social distancing.

Cliftonville will face Glentoran and Ballymena United will play Coleraine, with the order of the semis to be confirmed next week.

It was reported earlier this week that there will be no fans at the games, which will be the first to take place since football was suspended here back in March.
