Irish Cup draw made for first qualifying round of competition

The draw for the first qualifying round of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup has been made.

Eighty teams will be in action when the blue riband competition kicks off next month.

There will be 40 first qualifying round games played on Saturday, August 14, with the winners joining 24 other teams who received byes in the second qualifying round.

The second round matches are due to be played on September 25, followed by round three on October 30 and fourth qualifying round ties on November 27.

Eight teams will eventually progress from the four qualifying rounds to take their place in round one of the competition where they will be joined by Northern Ireland’s 24 senior clubs from the NIFL Premiership and NIFL Championship.

What was traditionally called the fifth round, but is now known as round one (competition phase), is due to be played on Saturday, January 8. Round two is scheduled for February 5 with the quarter-finals on March 4/5, the semi-finals on April 1/2 and the final on Saturday, May 2.
