An Irish creche has been shut for a week as an urgent letter was sent to parents.
The childcare facility in Co Carlow announced the news to parents and guardians on Saturday.
The building will now be shut from Monday to Friday after a decision by officials following a "full risk assessment".
Numerous cases had been confirmed at the facility over the course of several days last week.
The message sent to parents reads: "There has been a small number of confirmed Covid-19 cases within our facility over the last few days. A full risk assessment has been completed by Management and BOM and we have made a decision to close next week Monday 19th to Friday 23rd inclusive.
"We feel this is a necessary and safest measure to contain the threat of C19 and ensure all our staff, children, parents and the wider community stay safe.
"We will update you on reopening over the coming week."
It comes after an outbreak was also reported at a school in Co Limerick.
Officials at the secondary school confirmed over the weekend that two cases of the virus had been identified.
And a notice sent to parents and guardians on Saturday said that all close contacts had been informed, and that for all other pupils it was safe to continue attending school as normal.
It reads: "Two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in your school have been notified to the Department of Public Health HSE Mid-West
"A public health risk assessment has been undertaken and any close contacts have been identified. and will be informed.
"If you are not identified as a close contact, you do not need a test for Covid-19, you can continue to attend school, and no further actions are required at this time."
