Irish couples celebrate the best gift of all as babies arrive at Christmas

Santa Claus dropped off extra special gifts to these lucky couples who celebrated the birth of Christmas Day babies.

One of the first newborns to arrive in the country was baby Fiadh whose mum Aisling O’Farrell welcomed the tot at 12.19am.

The adorable baby girl weighed 6lb 4oz when she was born at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin.

The doting tot’s parents, dad James Flanagan and mum Aisling, from South Dublin, dressed her in festive red and white pyjamas within hours of Fiadh’s birth.

Meanwhile, just 3km away, baby boy Fiadhan Brant was born to parents Isolde Sheridan and Andrew Brant at 4.04am at the Rotunda Hospital in the capital.

The happy mum and dad from Charlestown, Finglas in Dublin beamed with pride and joy as they held the tot who weighed 3lb 8oz.

Another set of delighted parents at the same facility were Alexandru Daniel and Nadeja Cioponea who gave birth to Anasthia Christina Cioponea at 4.30am.

The smiling baby girl weighed 3lb 3oz when she was born at Ireland’s busiest maternity hospital.

Meanwhile, parents at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Co Louth, and Letterkenny University Hospital, Co Donegal, welcomed their tots yesterday with one baby born in each facility.
