Irish cinema apologises after screening of Spiderman goes terribly wrong

A Cork cinema has refunded customers after their screening of the new Spiderman movie was hit by technical issues.

Marvel fans flocked to the Omniplex Cinema at Mahon Point on Wednesday but after waiting "for hours" to see Tom Holland and co, they were sent home disappointed.

Omniplex Ireland said: "A technical issue today in our Mahon Point cinema impacted some of our Spider-Man: No Way Home screenings.

"All customers affected have been offered a refund and we apologise for the inconvenience caused."

And many fans will have to wait another while to see the film as most screenings are fully booked, particularly with cinemas at 50% capacity.

CorkBeo reports that many took to Twitter to vent after the film screening was cancelled.

One person wrote that they were told by staff at the cinema "2 hours after waiting that the movie is cancelled."

"Why wasn't the movie tested beforehand? Shocking," they added.

Another wrote that they sat in the cinema for "two hours before they finally told us the Spider-Man screening wasn't going to happen. And most other screenings for the week are fully booked."
