Irish chef has frying pan disaster live on Virgin Media but is praised for quick reactions

A chef had to channel the quick reactions of his native Limerick hurling team live on air after a blunder nearly led to a frying pan full of hot food flying onto the floor.

TV cook and chef Eoin Sheehan was flipping the contents of a sizzling hot frying pan live on Virgin Media's Six O'Clock Show when the handle snapped off and the rest of the pan launched towards the floor.

Luckily the fresh meal prep company owner had quick reactions and saved the rest of the pan before it slid off the counter, narrowly avoiding an on air disaster.

"Faulty Pans and Fast Hands. Always kept on my toes on the six o clock show," he wrote on Instagram after the programme had concluded.

Co-host, fellow Limerick man and former rugby player Greg O' Shea said the chef had the "reactions of a pro baller."

"Great work brother," he added in praise, while the other co-host Fionnuala Jay joked: "That's the title of your autobiography anyway."

It wasn't long before replays of the video took off, and Eoin himself noted how it had "gone viral" having already garnered over 250,000 views on TikTok. The video also dominated local headlines in Limerick.

He wrote: "Great week though! Loads of food shipped out and a viral video."

"Wow the food looks delicious, hope your hand ok after grabbing the hot pan," one fan wrote, while another said: "save of the year."
