Irish Chase star Darragh Ennis stuns viewers as he reveals he still has day job away from show

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left stunned in a recent episode after Irish chaser Darragh Ennis revealed he still has a day job.

During Monday's episode of the popular ITV series, the chaser said he still works in a lab.

Bradley, 62, welcomed four new players to the game show, Sabine, Belinda, Paul and Dan, who were next to face Darragh, known as, The Menace, as they tried to walk away with a cash prize.

Belinda managed to get past the chaser and make her way through to the final with an impressive £6,000.

Dan then joined her with an extra £5,000, reports the Echo .

However, as one head-to-head became tense, Bradley was taken aback as The Menace shared a story from one of his colleagues at the laboratory.

The host asked: "Are you still working in your lab while you're doing this?"

Darragh responded: "Oh yeah, I'll be back in on Monday. Most of them don't watch it.

"They're nerds, but they're not that kind of nerds. Half of them don't even watch TV."

Bradley joked: "What a fantastic thing going into work and being asked what your weekend was like. 'Oh I was working with The Beast, the Dark Destroyer and the Vixen'. I love it."

Since 2013, Darragh has worked as a laboratory manager and research technician in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, where he specialises in researching the brains of insects.

He previously said that his day-to-day life hasn't changed.

"My day-to-day life hasn't changed. I will be going into the lab to do experiments. People won't appreciate this, but the Chase is my side gig. My main job is I'm a scientist ."

Darragh first appeared as a contestant on The Chase back in 2017 with viewers campaigning for justice for him after he won a whopping amount of money - only for other contestants to dramatically decrease the amount in the pot.

Much like the most recent episode where the team were joined by Paul in the final Chase as they were competing for £14,000.

The threeo built up 13 steps but were caught with 45 seconds remaining by Darragh.
