Irish business shuts due to hot weather and leaves brilliant sign for customers

Stories of closures are usually sad ones, but that's definitely not the case for a gallery in West Cork.

With the sun out, The Yellow Door in the sunny village of Baltimore decided to take a half-day for all the right reasons.

The popular gallery would usually be selling all sorts from sculptures, magnets, soaps, signs and paintings - but a sign on the door today reads that it's "tooooooooo hoooooottttt" and they're "gone to the beach".

Not many will blame the crew, as Met Eireann said that Monday would hit 27C degrees in parts of Ireland.

The staff are also taking the spontaneous break off the back of a busy weekend that saw a big chunk of the country descend on their part of the world.

After a busy weekend, this break is very well deserved.

With temperatures soaring to the high twenties around Ireland on Monday, the good news keeps coming because conditions are set to stay very warm until Friday.

Met Eireann is expecting daytime temperatures into the high twenties and very humid at night with temperatures staying in the mid to high teens.

However, while the heatwave will continue to sizzle parts of Ireland, there's also a risk that conditions could be spoiled by a few isolated thundery showers

Met Eireann has said: "Another warm week ahead as the heatwave continues with strong sunshine and temperatures widely into the high 20s and possibly 30 Celsius in a few locations. Although on the whole, it’ll be a dry week a few isolated thundery showers could break out today (Monday) and tomorrow."
