Irish bride who was told she couldn’t get made-to-measure suit for wedding ties the knot

A bride who was told she couldn’t get a made-to-measure suit for her wedding has tied the knot.

Maeve Wright, 53, from Rathfarnham in Co Dublin, tried  to buy her outfit at Magee’s in Arnott’s in December but was stunned after being told the service was only open to men.

Determined to find a suit to fit the bill, Maeve married her partner Sara Shine at a ceremony in Meath on Saturday, decked out in a tailored three-piece by Louis Copeland. Sara said: “She looked stunning, it was a really special day.

“It was full of absolute love and joy and it was a beautiful version of the day we had originally planned. We were lucky to have been able to pull it all together at the last minute.”

The happy couple celebrated one of the first weddings of the New Year, tying the knot in front  of 25 friends and family on Saturday at Clonabreany House in Co Meath.

Maeve and Sara’s wedding will be the only event held at the venue this month because of Covid 19 restrictions.

“We were just very lucky to get in when we did before the restrictions came in", said Maeve.

“When Michael Martin made the announcement that we were going into lockdown again we decided we would bring the wedding forward, thankfully the venue was free and our celebrant was available.

“The setting was absolutely stunning and the frosty weather added to it."

The couple said the small number of guests made the wedding an intimate and memorable event, shared with their nearest and dearest.

“There was a bit of nervousness and we had a couple of last-minute dropouts because of covid but we had 25 people on the day.

“The small number of guests actually meant that we really got time with everyone who came who were very much our nearest and dearest."

Wright’s made-to-measure suit by Louis Copeland was worn over a pair of maroon brogues by Dubarry who gifted her a pair after hearing her story on national radio.
