Irish boxer James Tennyson lands big opportunity in WBA International title fight

Belfast boxer James Tennyson has been handed a big opportunity as a late addition to Vasiliy Lomachenko's undercard on Saturday.

Tennyson will take on Atif Shafiq with the WBA Lightweight International title on the line in what could be a golden opportunity for him at London's O2 Arena.

The 26-year-old will take on British fighter Shafiq (21-2) after making the move from super-featherweight to lightweight following his defeat to world champion Tevin Farmer.

Tennyson has recovered well from the defeat, beating Garry Neale in Belfast in February and then picking up a routine victory over Brayan Mairena in just two rounds in May.

Tennyson joins the card that'll see British fighter Luke Campbell take on Vasiliy Lomachenko on front of a sold out crowd.
