IRFU chiefs concede that the new Covid restrictions "pose serious challenges" to the sport in terms of training numbers.
However rugby bosses have instructed clubs that they must comply with the one pod of 15 regulations, stating it is "paramount that the rugby community continues to demonstrate safe and responsible behaviours for ourselves and for society".
The Union pointed out in a missive to clubs today that contact training is still allowed but insisted that just one team per pitch at any one time can be permitted - with no mixing between groups.
It noted that '"contact in training is still permitted under government guidelines" but advised clubs to work in set training groups/pods of up to 15 people.
There should only be one team per pitch at any one time and there should be no mixing between groups, with players strictly keeping to within their scheduled time slot and must not participate in any other sessions.
Friendly fixtures are permitted in the August 28 to 30 period between clubs within the same province.
The Competition Stage of the IRFU’s Return To Rugby Summary Roadmap for Clubs is still scheduled to start on September 5, but without spectators present.
Up to the under-12 age grade, at least two coaches and a Covid-19 compliance officer appointed by the club have to be in attendance for groups of up to 15 players.
From under-13 to adult level, at least one coach and one compliance officer must be on site. Further match-day guidelines will be given to clubs ahead of the start of competitive fixtures.
