Keith Earls will travel to the World Cup with Ireland after injury fears surrounding the winger were allayed by the IRFU this morning.
The Munster man went off in the second half of Saturday’s win against Wales at the Aviva Stadium with his troublesome knee then strapped up on the bench.
But the IRFU have confirmed that the 31-year-old will retain his place in Joe Schmidt’s party heading to Japan.
Schmidt had told after the victory over Wales that the Limerick native was experiencing discomfort in his quad: “Potentially he could have played on, he feels like he could have, but no way in a game like that are you going to keep someone on.”
Ireland will begin their World Cup campaign against Scotland in Yokohama on Sunday, 22 September (8.45am Irish time).
