Ireland will officially enter Phase Two of lifting lockdown restrictions on Monday, Leo Varadkar confirms

Ireland will enter Phase Two of lifting lockdown restrictions on Monday, the Taoiseach has confirmed.

Leo Varadkar addressed the nation from Government Buildings this afternoon, where he also revealed that some measures originally planned for Phase Three have been moved up.

This is due to Ireland's continued suppression of the virus, which is largely down to public co-operation with restrictions.

From Monday, visits of up to four people in your home will be permitted, as long as two metres of social distance are kept.

Cocooners will be allowed have people visit their home for the first time in months.

But these visitors must wear gloves, face coverings and keep at least two metres away from the person who is cocooning.

The Government will allow people to travel within their own county in addition to the 20km rule.

Offices and workplaces that can implement social distancing may start to bring staff back.

All retail outlets can reopen with a small number of staff on the basis that the retailer can control the number of individuals that staff and customers interact with at any one time.

Under the fast-tracking of the roadmap, pubs that serve food will be allowed to reopen on June 29th, while shopping centres can return to business on June 15th.

Playgrounds will reopen, while summer camps will be allowed for children in groups no more than 15.

All travel restrictions will be lifted on June 29th.

Public libraries may open so long as the numbers allowed in are limited, social distancing is observed and there is strict hand-sanitising in place for anyone who goes into the library.

People can take part in outdoor sporting and fitness activities, involving team sports training in small groups (but not matches) where social distancing can be maintained and where there is no contact.
