Ireland weather: Met Eireann warn two-day hell as 'Arctic blast' brings big change

A freezing Arctic blast is set to sweep across Ireland over the next two days.

Met Eireann is warning that temperatures could plummet to as low as -2C in Dublin over the weekend

The big changes comes after a period of unseasonably warm and sunny weather across Ireland with the mercury rising to mid-teen temperatures last week.

Looking to today and it's forecast to be dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.

It will be cool with low temperatures and this will drop to -2C overnight with clear spells.

Here's how the weekend is looking according to Met Eireann with:

Tomorrow: "It will be dry, with bright or sunny spells in the morning but becoming cloudier through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of around 7 degrees in light to moderate southerly breezes."

Saturday night: "It will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells, although there may be some patchy drizzle in coastal parts of the west and northwest at times. Minimum temperatures will range between -2 and +4 degrees, coldest in the north and east where some frost will develop. Light to moderate southerly winds continuing."

Sunday: "It will be generally cloudy and dry but patchy light rain and drizzle will continue to affect coastal parts of the west and northwest. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds."

Sunday night: "Holding dry in the east and southeast on Sunday night, but rain will push into Ulster, Connacht and west Munster. Southerly winds will be mostly light to moderate but will increase fresh along western coasts. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees."
