Ireland weather tomorrow: Met Eireann's updated warnings for seven counties before unusual December conditions

Stormy conditions will batter the west of Ireland on Sunday ahead of some unusually mild December weather.

Weather chiefs are predicting an Atlantic front to bring high winds and heavy rain to the west of the country for the rest of the weekend.

And status yellow wind warnings have been issued for a total of seven counties.

The first warning is for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 3pm on Sunday until 11pm.

Met Eireann said: "Southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h with stronger winds expected along coasts and on higher ground. Some fallen trees and power outages are possible."

A second warning is in place for Clare and Kerry until 8pm.

The forecaster added: "Southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 100km/h. Some fallen trees and power outages are possible."

But much more settled weather is on the way with the national forecaster predicting warmer than usual temperatures.

The forecaster said: "Some rain at times but most days will be mild for the time of year. More settled conditions will develop later next week."

And it will be a good start to the week, they added: "Most places will be dry on Monday with the best of the sunny spells across the west and north of the country, although the odd passing shower is possible along the northwest coast.

"It will be generally cloudier further south and east with the chance of some rain skirting the southeast coast. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light southwesterly or variable breezes."
