Ireland weather tomorrow: Met Eireann's horrid forecast as cold snap hits with temperature nose dive

Temperatures are set to dip as low as 1C this weekend as a cold snap hits the country.

Met Eireann are forecasting the cooler conditions to be felt from Wednesday with nighttime temperatures at the weekend particularly cold.

Wednesday will be as chilly as 11C during the day in some places while showers and high winds will also make it unpleasant.

Thursday is going to be the same during the day with even colder conditions at night as the mercury dips to 4C.

The coolest weather is then expected on Friday and into the weekend as frost and near freezing temperatures arrive.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Cool and breezy, with sunny spells and scattered showers on Friday.

"Max. 12 to 15 degrees, in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong on exposed coasts. Mainly dry on Friday night, with clear spells. Min. 2 to 5 degrees.

"Mainly dry, with bright or sunny spells and light winds on Saturday, but a little patchy light rain or drizzle may occur in parts of the southwest and west. Cold overnight, with lows of 1 to 4 degrees.

"Rain will extend from the Atlantic on Sunday. Cool at first, but becoming a little milder, with moderate southerly winds, veering southwesterly."

At the moment next week is not looking much better with unsettled weather set to stick around.

The forecaster added: "Changeable and unsettled weather continuing next week."
