Ireland weather: Thunder, hail and winds to batter Ireland over rainy weekend as remnants of Hurricane Epsilon to arrive

Ireland is set to be buffeted by rain and windy weather this weekend.

On Tuesday, it will turn extremely windy as the remnants of the Hurricane Epsilon brings blustery and heavy showers which will be thundery at times with a risk of hail too.

Met Eireann forecast that today showers in the west will extend countrywide by this afternoon.

Some of the showers will be heavy or squally with a risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

It will be blustery, with fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, continuing strong to near gale in western and northwestern coastal areas this morning, but easing as the day goes on.

Temperatures will range between 11 and 14 degrees.

Showers will continue, most often in western counties, with a continued risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

Sunday will be a cool and blustery day with heavy and thundery showers and a risk of hail.

Showers will be most frequent in the western half of the country, merging into longer spells of rain at times.

On Monday, there will besome drier and calmer conditions developing but it is set to be unsettled from midweek with further wet and windy spells.

The remnants of Hurricane Epsilon will on Tuesday bring in scattered, blustery and heavy showers, thundery at times with a risk of hail.

Wednesday will stay windy throughout the day with frequent showers, and a continued risk of hail and thunderstorm activity
