Ireland weather: THIRD Met Eireann warning issued as awful forecast given

Met Éireann has issued a third weather warning for the coming days as conditions worsen.

The latest announcement states that a Status Yellow wind warning will come into effect for the entire country at the weekend.

In terms of the conditions that are expected, the warning states that "strong to gale force southerly winds will veer westerly. Some severe gusts are possible" will be prevalent throughout Ireland.

The warning was issued at 11am on Thursday, 29 October and is in place from 1am on Saturday, 31 October until 3pm later that afternoon.

That particular weather warning is just the latest one that has been issued to the Irish public over the last few days.

Earlier this morning, the national forecaster alerted the public to a 'vigorous' weather system making that's making its way towards Ireland.

Met Éireann state that: "Very unsettled weather will occur over the Halloween weekend as a series of vigorous Atlantic weather systems pass close to Ireland. Spells of heavy rain will lead to surface and river flooding.

"Very windy/stormy at times with some severe and damaging gusts possible. Some coastal flooding possible also due to the combination of low pressure, high tides and onshore winds. Very high seas."

As for the aforementioned weather warnings, a Status Yellow rainfall warning is in place for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Residents in those 10 counties can expect to see heavy and persistent rainfall overnight from Wednesday. Sadly, these wet conditions are expected to last until Friday morning where they will lead to some flooding and disruption.

Elsewhere, a Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Galway and Mayo with strong southwest winds set to arrive on Thursday. For those living out west, things are going to be very windy with mean speeds of 55 to 65km/h and gusts to 100km/h expected to arrive.

With a busy Halloween weekend ahead, the public is also being advised to check their local country warnings on a day-to-day basis.
