Ireland weather: Temperatures to hit 20 degrees but Met Eireann warn of major change next week

Temperatures will rise to 20 degrees in parts of Ireland today before falling to the low-teens next week.

Ireland is set to enjoy a sunny weekend after a pleasant week.

The warm weather is due to a high pressure front.

Met Eireann forecast that Munster will have the best of Saturday's weather but will get a "moderate northeast breeze".

The national forecaster said: "Dry for the rest of today with a mix of cloud and sunshine, brightest across northern and southern counties. Highest temperatures will range 15 to 20 degrees Celsius (mildest in the south of Munster and coolest across Ulster and east Leinster)"

Saturday night will  be "staying dry tonight with clear spells.

"Cool for much of Ulster and Connacht with lowest temperatures generally ranging 3 to 6 degrees Celsius."

Mist and fog will again clear during Sunday morning to give another dry day with bright spells of autumn sunshine.

Temperatures will rise to 21 degrees on Sunday.

Next week, it will stay settled for Monday but changeable from Tuesday onwards with cooler conditions with rain and showers.

Wednesday will be a cool and unsettled day which will start largely dry and bright for much of the country but cloud increasing in the west will extend across the country with widespread rain and showers.

Temperatures will range from 11 to 15 degrees.
