Both Cork and Kerry are to be soaked with heavy rain all day as Met Eireann forecasts more awful weather.
A status yellow rain warning is in place for both counties from 9am until midnight Sunday with up to 40mm expected to fall.
The rest of the country is expected to see wet and windy conditions but without any warnings - however an advisory does remain`in effect.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Blustery with sunny spells and scattered showers to begin. However, outbreaks of rain will soon spread from the southwest to all areas through this morning.
"The rain becoming persistent with some heavy falls, particularly in the southwest, bringing the risk of local flooding here. Southwest winds will remain fresh to strong across southern counties and on the north coast, easing light to moderate elsewhere. Highs of 10 to 15 degrees, coolest in the north and mildest in the south."
The weather forecast does take a turn in the early days of next week with freezing conditions expected to hit overnight.
Temperatures will drop as low as 0C at night time this week - so make sure to have the heating ready.
A Met Eireann forecaster added: "Breezy with heavy showers early in the week, becoming dry and settled with good sunny spells by midweek. Cold nights.
" Lows of 3 to 5 degrees on Monday night.
"Lows of 3 to 6 degrees in the north on Tuesday night, 0 to 4 degrees in the south, with patchy grass frost in sheltered areas.
"Lows close to freezing in the south Wednesday night, with frost forming in light winds."
