Ireland weather: Met Eireann warn of "hazardous" conditions as thundery Thursday in store

Met Eireann have warned that Thursday will see "hazardous" conditions as thunderstorms will sweep across the island.

The national forecaster has also warned of a risk of floods, with a status yellow warning in place.

On top of that, Thursday will also see strong winds whipping around the country, so make sure to stay safe out there if you do venture out.

Here's the latest from the boffins at Met Eireann.

Thursday

"Blustery with showery outbreaks of rain this morning. Brighten up from the southwest through the morning, however widespread heavy showers or thunderstorms will develop, bringing the risk of hail and spot flooding.

"Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees, or a little cooler in northern Ulster. Fresh to strong southerly winds, veering westerly and moderating for a time, but increasing fresh to strong and gusty again in the south by evening.

Thursday night

"Remaining blustery overnight, with showery outbreaks of rain continuing heaviest and most frequent in northern parts. The best of the drier conditions and clear spells will be in Munster and south Leinster. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds, turning strong at times over the south of the country."

Friday

"Thundery showers merging to longer spells of rain in the north and west with the continued risk of spot flooding. The best of the sunny spells will be in Munster and south Leinster where showers will remain generally isolated until evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, in mostly fresh west to southwest winds."

Friday night

"A mostly cloudy night with just occasional clear spells. Showers will continue overnight with longer spells of rain at times. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, west to southwest winds."
