Ireland weather: Met Eireann warn big change as 'dominant' event takes over in huge temperature swing

Met Eireann has warned of a big change as a "dominant" weather event takes over following a massive temperature swing.

High pressure will become "dominant through Tuesday night and Wednesday bringing settled conditions midweek and leading to a good deal of dry weather towards the weekend" according to Met Eireann.

There will be a 16C temperature swing from Tuesday night going into Wednesday as -1C bursts to 15C leading to a largely dry and bright day with widespread sunny spells.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy day with patches of rain and drizzle as the Celsius remains around the 10C mark.

Here's how the rest of the week is looking according to Met Eireann:

Tuesday night: "Any lingering rain and drizzle will die out early on to leave a largely dry night. Cloud will gradually break up overnight too with clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees over the northern half of the country with a grass frost, but less cold further south with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees, in a light to moderate northeasterly breeze."

Wednesday: "A largely dry and bright day with widespread sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, coolest along the east coast in a light to moderate easterly breeze."

Wednesday night: "Continuing dry and largely clear on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees generally, but colder over Ulster and Connacht where there will be a touch of grass frost with lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees. Light easterly breezes."

Thursday: "Another generally dry and bright day with sunny spells. There is the chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, coolest in the east and south in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze.

Friday: Another dry and sunny day in store for Friday. Highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees, mildest over the midlands and Connacht and coolest along the east and south coasts in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.

The weekend: "Current indications suggest that the dry and sunny conditions will continue into the weekend as high pressure maintains its dominance over our weather."
