Met Eireann has updated its forecast for Christmas Day as Ireland is set to see a dramatic change in the weather.
After enjoying unseasonably settled conditions, a cold snap is on the way with a 10-degree temperature swing.
Temperatures could reach 9C on Sunday - but are forecast to drop as low as -1C by Thursday.
In an update on Sunday morning, Met Eireann said: “High pressure will continue to bring settled conditions for the early days of next week but it will turn unsettled and possibly colder later in the week.”
Looking ahead to Christmas Eve, they continued: “Current indications suggest that Christmas Eve will be mostly cloudy over the southern half of the country with some rain and drizzle.
“It will be brighter further north with sunny spells and a few showers.”
And for the big day, Met Eireann says this is what we can expect: “Early indications for Christmas day suggest that it will be cold with a fair amount of dry weather, but with some rain or drizzle in the south and some showers in the north and east.”
Meanwhile, those hoping for a white Christmas could be in luck, as some long-range weather models - while subject to change - show heavy snow across parts of Ireland on December 25.
WXCharts map show where snow is predicted to fall on December 25 - demonstrated by the purple in the map below.

The model shows even more snow across Ireland on St Stephen’s Day.

It comes as UK forecasters are predicting freezing temperatures and snow for Christmas day.
