Met Eireann is promising "winter sunshine" on Saturday but a big change is on the way as temperatures drop to zero tonight.
Saturday will be dry today with bright spells and isolated showers with temperatures of 8C dropping to the freezing 0C by night.
It will be cold from early on Saturday night with patchy frost setting in and becoming milder and turning wet and windy heading for morning.
Met Eireann added: "There will be a band of thundery rain moving up from the southwest with fresh to strong southeast winds developing. Lowest temperatures will range 0 to 4 degrees Celsius."
Here's how the rest of the weekend and into next week are looking for Ireland:
Tomorrow: "Further pulses of heavy and sometimes thundery rain advancing from the southwest early on Sunday with spot flooding. Some bright or sunny spells later but occasional showers too. Humid and breezy, in fresh and gusty southerly winds. Highest temperatures will range 9 to 11 degrees Celsius, best values further south."
This week: "Monday will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, frequent and sometimes heavy across southern and western counties. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, in moderate to fresh southwest winds."
Tuesday: "Most areas will be dry with light southerly winds and sunny spells - though scattered showers will affect southern and western counties. Later in the day, cloud will thicken across Munster with heavy rain moving into the far southwest towards evening, along with freshening southeast winds. Highest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees Celsius, coolest across Ulster and north Connacht."
Wednesday: "Possible high winds to begin with overnight rain clearing. Sunny spells and scattered showers soon following. Relatively mild with highs of 11 or 12 degrees Celsius."
