Ireland weather: Met Eireann's updated gale warning as storm gusts to reach up to 110km/h

Dublin's coasts are set to be hammered tonight as an orange warning for gales of up to force 10 is in place.

The Irish sea will see winds that are as strong as storm force 10 for a time tonight, making the coastline very dangerous.

The orange gale warning is in place for all of Ireland and the yellow wind warning still remains in place for Dublin, along with the rest of Leinster, Munster and Connacht until tomorrow morning.

The gale warning says: "Southwest winds will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 this evening and tonight (Wednesday night) on Irish coastal waters from Belfast Lough to Mizen Head to Malin Head and on the Irish Sea. Winds will further strengthen to storm force 10 for a time tonight and overnight on Irish Coastal Waters from Wicklow Head to Roches Point to Loop Head."

While the yellow wind warning adds: "Strong to gale force southwesterly winds, veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h and a risk of some wave overtopping in coastal areas."

Here's the forecast for Dublin tonight and tomorrow morning:

It will continue wet and very windy this evening and tonight, with rain clearing to blustery showers. Southwest winds will be near gale force, with some very strong gusts. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Winds will veer westerly overnight and ease slightly but will still be fresh and gusty.

Tomorrow will bring a mix of frequent heavy showers and some sunny spells. The showers will bring a risk and hail and possibly thunder. Highest temperatures of 7 degrees Celsius in fresh to strong westerly winds.
