Ireland weather: Met Eireann's latest as forecaster predicts 'rollercoaster' and possibility of 'very cool' conditions

Ireland’s forecast over the coming fortnight will reportedly bring a ‘temperature rollercoaster’ as a cold snap moves in.

Some milder conditions are expected for those in the south, but things will dip into freezing temperatures according to the latest weather charts.

From Monday, November 22, things are due to become bitter in areas, with the risk of hail and potential weather hazards as well.

Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather took to Twitter to confirm the stark change writing; "A bit of a temperature rollercoaster coming over the next 10 days on the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts charts.

"Some mild weather to cooler back to mild and then possibly very cool! Wait and see for now."

Meanwhile, as for the rest of this week, Ireland will be “dominated by high pressure at first as a weak cold front in the southeast fizzles out on Monday”.

It’ll be mainly dry tonight, with some mist and fog likely in the early hours of tomorrow morning - Tuesday.

"A cold front crosses later Tuesday bringing some rain," Met Eireann predicts, and it is then expected to turn much “colder and more unstable for a time mid-week."

There is also potential for some hail showers in "Ulster on Tuesday night as a blustery west to northwest airflow sets in."

But high pressure is still influential to the southwest of Ireland, where it’s due to become milder again on Wednesday night and Thursday “with an Atlantic warm front moving in."

However, as the week comes to a close, things will turn more unsettled, fresher, and breezy - which is how it will remain over the weekend.

Despite this, it’ll be “overall drier than normal in most areas, but wetter than usual in the northwest of the country."
