This weekend's weather was fairly erratic due to an unstable Arctic airmass over Ireland which led to a lot of heavy showers and variations in the weather.
With periods of sunshine, rainfall, and wintry conditions in parts of the country, the last few days have been the very definition of a mixed bag but in terms of next week, Met Eireann has said that there will be a "settled spell with a good deal of dry weather and temperatures gradually recovering closer to normal for the time of year."
The upcoming week will start with some showers and outbreaks but as the week develops, a spell of high pressure will bring better conditions
On this note, here's what's on the horizon for the next few days.
Tonight
The cold conditions will prevail because a chilly night is expected with a risk of frost too. Minimum temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees and overnight, there will be varying amounts of cloud and a few showers too.
Monday morning and afternoon
A cloudy and sunny start to the week is expected but there will be scattered showers too.
Sadly, if you're living in the east, expect those showers to be heavier as the day develops. However, the temperatures will rise in the afternoon and range from 8 to 11 degrees.
Monday night
Showers will move eastwards to leave a mainly dry night elsewhere. However, those in the northwest can expect a few isolated showers.
Those living in the southwest can expect to see some patches of mist and fog. Lowest temperatures 0 to +3 degrees.
Tuesday morning and afternoon
It's set to be a dry, bright and sunny start with the only isolated showers developing in the northwest.
However, it will become cloudier as the morning develops with rainfall spreading across the northern half of the country. The mercury is set to rise with the highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
Tuesday night
The rain is set to clear to the east early on Tuesday night, leaving a dry night with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees are expected with patches of mist and fog developing.
Wednesday morning
There will be a few isolated showers in the north and east, but largely dry elsewhere.
After a bright start, the clouds will develop in the afternoon but there will still be some sunny spells. Temperatures will go as high as 14 degrees, coolest along the eastern coasts.
Wednesday night
A largely dry night is on the horizon with long clear spells developing. However, mist and fog will form in places.
Thursday morning and afternoon
Another bright and dry morning with sunny spells is expected. Highest temperatures will range between 9 to 14 degrees and once again, it's set to be coolest in the east and southeast.
Thursday night and further ahead
As the weekend approaches, some rain may develop along the west coast on Friday, but it is unlikely to spread across the country.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be dry and settled for the most part as temperatures return to the normal levels that would be expected at this time of year.
