Ireland weather: Met Eireann predict wet weekend as five counties face rainfall warning

Ireland will continue to be a sweaty mess weather wise for the next couple of days as Met Eireann have revealed a 'tropical airmass' will bring higher temperatures.

But of course, this is Ireland so those temperatures will be coupled with plenty of rain showers.

Thursday saw temperatures touch 20C in some parts of Ireland, with the national forecaster putting this down to a 'tropical airmass' keeping things nice and toasty.

And that airmass will remain over the weekend.

But be careful, because there is also a flood warning in place on top of a status yellow rain warning for five counties.

Here's the latest from the boffins at Met Eireann:

Friday

"A dull start to Friday, with continued outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Rain will become lighter and patchier through the morning, with drier intervals and occasional bright spells developing.

"A spell of heavier rain will spread over parts of the southwest and west in the evening, with a risk of localised flooding.

"Mild again with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in a mostly moderate southerly breeze.

Saturday

"A clearance to drier conditions, with just a few isolated showers and good sunny spells, will extend from the west through the day as the rain clears eastwards into the Irish Sea by evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in light west to northwest breezes.

Sunday

"Largely dry with sunny spells though a few showers will continue over northern Ulster. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in mostly light northwesterly breezes."
