Ireland weather: Met Eireann pinpoint area that will be worst hit on Sunday as thunderstorms roll in

Met Eireann have warned that thunderstorms could roll in across Ireland on Sunday.

And it's bad news for those of you out west as you'll be hit by the brunt of the storms.

After a brutal evening on Saturday which saw those queueing for nightclubs hit hard by rain showers nationwide.

We already have a yellow weather warning in place for Cork and Kerry, and while the national forecaster haven't extended that yet with an official warning, they have hinted that Connacht could be in for a bit of bother on Bank Holiday Sunday morning.

Tweeting on Saturday night, the forecaster said:

Their latest update doesn't look too good either.

Sunday

"Sunday will be a bright and breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers will be heavy, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms, especially across Atlantic counties, where they may merge to longer spells of rain at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees, mildest and brightest in the east, with moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.

"The last of the blustery and wet conditions will clear into the Irish Sea with scattered showers following for the rest of the night, mainly confined to the west and northwest later. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, in moderating southwest winds.

Monday

"Fresher than of late with sunny spells and scattered showers, mainly across the western half of the country. Highest temperatures will range 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, in mostly moderate southwesterly breezes.

Monday night

"Mostly dry and clear early on, apart from some Atlantic coastal showers. Later in the night, low cloud will feed in patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle, especially across the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of around 5 to 8 degrees Celsius, coolest early on in the night."
