Ireland weather: Met Eireann lockdown forecast predicts warmer weekend as Spring appears

Brighter days and higher temperatures are ahead for Dublin in the coming days as the rain passes us by and Spring-like weather settles in.

It's going to be a dry start to Friday, and we can expect some sunny spells although clouds and a few showers may also be on the way.

Met Eireann says the week is set to end on a slightly warmer note, with temperatures of 11C before they reach 12C on Saturday on what should be a pleasant day.

The night time will still be quite chilly, with temperatures hitting -1C on Sunday night so if you're an early riser, make sure to keep warm until conditions brighten.

Met Eireann says: "Dry this morning with sunny spells developing and just one or two light isolated showers. Becoming a little cloudier during the afternoon with further passing showers mixed with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees with a moderate westerly breeze.

"Dry and mainly clear tonight with a slight frost possible. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 3 degrees with light to moderate southwest breezes."

Here's what to expect:

Friday

Friday morning will be dry and bright with any frost quickly clearing. Cloud will increase during the afternoon with one or two light passing showers later in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees with a moderate southwest breeze.

Light rain and drizzle will develop in western coastal counties early in the night, with drier weather further east. The rain will break up and become patchy as it moves eastwards across the country overnight. Light to moderate southwest breezes will be fresh on western coasts for a time. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Saturday

Cloudy in many areas to begin, brightening up through the morning. There will be occasional outbreaks of light showery rain or drizzle during the day. The western half of the country will have the best of the sunny spells through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light southwest or variable winds.

A largely dry night with patchy drizzle on coasts. Fog will likely form under clear skies and light variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Sunday

Fog will be slow to clear during the morning with very light or calm winds. It will be dry with low cloud lingering throughout the day in many areas, some drizzle possible near western coasts. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Dry with clear spells. Some fog or low cloud will likely form overnight in light easterly winds. A risk of a slight frost also, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees.

Monday

Mostly dry with sunny spells, highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with a light or moderate easterly breeze. Rain will develop in the southwest during the evening, spreading across Munster and Connacht overnight. Remaining dry elsewhere with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees, a bit milder across Munster.

Next week

Current indications suggest Tuesday and Wednesday will be mild and a little breezier. It will likely be cloudy at times with some outbreaks of rain and drizzle, driest across the north and northeast.
