Ireland weather: Met Eireann issues two weather warnings as freezing blast to bring snow and flooding

Met Eireann has issued a grim forecast for the weekend as parts of Ireland are set to be lashed with heavy rain, flooding, and snow.

Two weather alerts are in place including a three-day weather advisory warning of snow and ice.

A Status Yellow warning for rainfall will be in place for Wicklow and Wexford as the national forecaster has warned of heavy rain, turning wintry at times.

They added: "Rainfall accumulations of up to 30 to 40mm, with a risk of localised flooding."

The yellow alert is in place from 3 am on Saturday until 3 pm on the same day.

An additional nationwide weather advisory is also in place for three days from 10 pm on Friday until 11.59 pm on Sunday.

The weekend will see "very unsettled weather with wet and windy conditions bringing a risk of localised flooding".

Met Eireann also added that it'll be cold with wintry falls of snow and icy conditions.
