Met Eireann have issued a status yellow wind warning for Leinster, Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.
Heavy rain and gales are set to hit Ireland this weekend,despite temperatures staying mild.
There will be strong and gusty southwest to west winds with gusts in excess of 90km/h.
The warning will stay in place until 6pm this evening in Leinster and Connacht but continue in Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal until 9pm.
Met Eireann said: "A band of heavier rain in the southwest will extend across the country this morning, with a clearance to heavy showers and occasional bright spells following, bringing the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.
"Showers may merge to give longer spells of rain at times especially across the west and north."

Temperatures will range from 10 to 13°C.
Met Eireann forecast gusty southerly winds will strengthen through Saturday.
Rain will continue over the northern half of the country into Sunday afternoon, with sunny spells and scattered showers further south with a risk of hail also.
Another area of rain and drizzle will push in from the west through the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures will reach 8 to 11 degrees.

Next week, it will be wet, mild and windy out to Wednesday. Then turning colder and drier with the risk of frost returning.
On Monday, there will be rain in the west by dawn, extending eastwards to all areas through the morning and afternoon.
Tuesday will be mild, breezy and cloudy, with patchy rain in the south and west.
Rain spreading countrywide Tuesday evening and overnight.

Wednesday will bring sunny spells with showers, most frequent in the west and north.
