The country is in for an extremely mixed bag of weather conditions this week with experts warning of lots of rain but also plenty of sunshine to compliment the poor weather.
Starting from today sunny spells will grace parts of the country but there will be some light showers.
An temperatures are set to hit below zero tonight with some frost expected.
The unseasonably cold weather will continue into Friday with a very unsettled weekend to follow.
Punters will be able to enjoy a relatively warm and sunny Saturday as temperatures begin to climb again.
However things will take a turn for the worse on Sunday as heavy showers batter the country with weather experts warning there is a big possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
A forecaster said the outlook for this weekend is "cool with a mix of showers and sunny spells through the remainder of the traditional work week, however a band of wet and windy conditions will extend over the country on Friday night followed by milder but showery conditions for the rest of the weekend."
"Dry and sunny in many areas to begin this morning however showers of rain or hail in the north and northwest will extend southwards through the morning and afternoon, some heavy.
"Showers will be scattered with plenty of dry and sunny intervals too, best of which in the south and southwest. Another cool day with highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in moderate northerly winds, breeziest in Ulster with fresh winds there.
"Cloud will build through the afternoon ahead of a spell of rain and arriving into the southwest during the evening where fresh southwesterly winds will develop. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

"Friday will continue cool with some showers in the northeast, however many areas will be mainly dry with some sunny spells. Cloud will increase from the southwest during the afternoon with rain developing over Munster during the evening hours.
"Rain will begin to clear northeastwards Saturday morning with showers following from the southwest. It will remain mostly cloudy however there will be occasional sunny breaks. Fresh southeast winds will veer southwesterly as the rain clears. It will become milder with highest temperatures of 11 to 17 degrees.
"There will be a mix of clear spells and showers overnight on Saturday with some turning heavy and thundery in the west. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds.
"On Sunday there will be some bright or sunny spells. However, showers will become widespread and heavy with the risk of isolated thunderstorms, heaviest and most frequent in the northwest. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in fresh southerly winds."
