Irish people are braced for a weekend washout with heavy rain and gales today, as the countdown to Christmas continues with low hopes for snow.
But before then, another day of heavy rain is forecast, according to Met Eireann.
Met Eireann said: "Mostly cloudy this morning with heavy showers, merging to give longer spells of rain, with some local flooding possible.
Widespread heavy showers, merging into longer spells of rain at times early tonight, clearing to scattered showers later. Blustery in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds and gales.".
Low pressure continues to dominate the weather next week, which will bring further spells of rain and windy conditions too.
Monday will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers, most frequent and sometimes heavy across southern and western counties.
It will be drier and brighter overall on Monday.
Tuesday will start mostly dry with sunny spells, however scattered showers will continue to affect the south and west.
It will be very wet and very windy weather is expected on Tuesday night as a deep area of low pressure tracks up across the country from the south.
Wednesday will bring a very windy morning with overnight rain clearing northwards to a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers.
Thursday will have a mostly dry start, with showers or longer spells of rain crossing the country from the west later while Friday will remain unsettled with rain at times.
