Wet and windy conditions are set to take over in the coming days as Ireland's heatwave fades into memory.
Today is set to be a pleasant day in most parts of the country but scattered showers will become heavy at times.
And the first week of August is looking increasingly miserable with more rain than usual for this time of year and average temperatures.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Today will be a dry day for most, although there will be well scattered showers, mainly near eastern and Atlantic coasts. There will be a mix of cloud and sunny spells, with good sunshine in the evening for many areas. Highest temperature of 15 to 19 degrees, coolest in the north, with light to moderate north to northwest winds.
"Largely dry and clear to begin with some showers lingering near western and eastern coasts. Cloud will thicken from the west overnight with outbreaks of showery rain moving into western coastal counties before dawn. Northwest breezes will fall light and variable. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

" Cloudy to begin with rain in Connacht and Munster, becoming heavy in places in Munster. Patchy rain or drizzle may also affect western and southern parts of Ulster and Leinster.
"Brightening up later in the afternoon, with rain clearing and scattered showers developing. The northeast and far east will likely hold dry with bright spells there throughout the day. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with just a light northwest breeze."
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all looking particularly wet with thundery downpours at times.
Beyond that, wet weather looks set to continue - a Met Eireann forecaster said: "Continuing unsettled with low pressure situated near Ireland bringing further rain or showers. Temperatures will remain around average."
