Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast stunning week later this month as air from the Azores arrives

With pubs and restaurants hoping for good weather conditions to boost demand for outdoor dining, the forecast by Met Eireann for the next few days is quite mixed.

While there will be some sunshine developing, there will also be scattered and heavy showers - some possibly thundery- for Friday and the weekend.

In terms of the next few days, there will be some decent temperatures and highs with Thursday, 20C, Friday, 20C, Saturday, 21C and Sunday, 20C, but showers also expected to fall on those days too.

However, looking beyond the next few days, the conditions are set to improve as the Azores High makes its presence felt on these shores.

This large, subtropical and semi-permanent centre of high atmospheric pressure is set to bring less rainfall and higher temperatures than normal for this time of year.

Here's what Met Eireann has said about the next few weeks of July and early August.

Week 1 (Friday 09 July to Thursday 15 July)

Next week ahead is et to be fairly mixed as an Atlantic flow feeds in bands of showery rain from time to time.

Conditions will be mild or warm though, with sunshine breaking through and moving the temperatures slightly higher later in the week.

In terms of the expected rainfall, it's set to be around the average for this time of year, as are the temperatures.

Week 2 (Friday 16 July to Thursday 22 July)

As for the third week of July. Met Eireann state that it is "expected to be more settled with the Azores High moving up towards Ireland. Rainfall is expected to be below average across the bulk of the country, with temperatures also seeing an improvement and increasing to slightly above average. Weather warnings are not currently expected during this period."

The highest temperature was recorded in Co. Carlow (Met Eireann)

Week 3 (Friday 23 July to Thursday 29 July)

At present, the forecast for the third week of July is more uncertain, but it looks like it will be quite settled with below-average rainfall and slightly above average temperatures.

Week 4 (Friday 30 July to Thursday 05 August)

Finally, the forecast for late July and early August is more temperamental because "confidence is much lower with no strong signal present."

However, it is likely that temperatures will be around normal and that it will be drier than usual.
