Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast major temperature change as unusual conditions hit

The country is set to be colder than usual for the time of year next week as temperatures take a major dip.

After a beautiful week all over the country it is forecast that Ireland will see overnight frost with temperatures barely hitting the mid teens during the day.

This is to be the first real cold spell of the autumn period and will start to be felt by Tuesday.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "A spell of rain is expected early on Tuesday morning along western coasts. This rain will come on a cold front, introducing much cooler conditions and bringing a change to more unsettled weather into the middle days of next week. The rain will clear from the west in the middle part of the day and the evening will be largely dry and sunny.

"The further outlook is for unsettled conditions with temperatures dipping to a couple of degrees below normal for the time of year."

Carlow Weather added: "Another warm evening and a warm day ahead tomorrow(Friday) with a nice weekend too but a sharp and sudden drop in temperatures next week.

"We’ll go from highs of 23c this week to highs of just 13c or 14c and risk of frost at night."

Before that there will however be one more nice day at least with an unsettled weekend to follow.

The Met Eireann forecaster added: "Fog will clear early and today will be dry and sunny with highest temperatures of between 16 degrees along eastern coasts and 21 degrees in the southwest of the country.

"Winds will be mainly light to moderate easterly but will be fresh at times, giving a cooler, fresher feel to the day than recent times.

"Tomorrow, Saturday, fog will lift early and it'll be a dry and sunny day once again. Highest temperatures of 15 or 16 degrees for most places, but west Munster will still see highest temperatures in the early twenties. Winds will be moderate easterly, fresh at times.

"Sunday will be a dry and sunny day from early in the day, any fog that forms will clear quickly from most areas. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, north to south, with light easterly breezes."
