Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast four more days of hot humid weather with one major downfall

The hot and sticky weather is set to continue all over Ireland right through the weekend.

Met Eireann are forecasting beautiful heat well into the 20s for the next few days but heavy showers and some thunderstorms will feature too.

Thursday is likely to be the hottest of the coming days with weather chiefs expecting temperatures to hit 25C in parts.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Thursday will start mostly cloudy and misty in places, with showers, some of them heavy or thundery in the south. It will brighten up as the day goes on, with the best of the sunshine in Ulster and north Leinster.

"However, further showers will develop during the afternoon and evening, mainly in the south and southwest, with some heavy and thundery downpours likely. Highs of 20 to 25 degrees in light to moderate northeasterly breezes, fresh at times on coasts."

Temperatures will dip slightly Friday with highs of 23C expected and that will continue on Saturday and Sunday.

Nights will remain extremely humid and close with temperatures not dipping below 17C in the early hours in some parts of the country.

The Met Eireann forecaster added: "Murky, misty and mostly cloudy to start with the continued risk of showers or longer spells of rain in Munster and south Leinster and Connacht, while remaining mostly dry elsewhere.

"Staying warm and humid with high temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes.

"Low cloud mist and fog to start on Saturday, with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers developing by afternoon. High temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees, in light and variable breezes.

"Sunny spells and scattered showers with some heavy or thundery bursts during the afternoon. High temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, in light easterly or variable breezes."
