Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast change to hit Ireland as long-range prediction looks bleak

Ireland is set for a wet and windy weekend with temperatures forecast to stay below 20 degrees.

It'll be bright and fresh for the rest of today with sunny spells and scattered showers but these will become more isolated during the evening.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells and just a few isolated showers.

Met Eireann has issued a long-range forecast which doesn't contain one day where temperatures are over 20C.

Tomorrow morning will start off dry and sunny in most areas, but showers in the northwest will gradually spread southeastwards through the morning and afternoon.

The highest temperatures will be 17 degrees.

There will be a good deal of dry, clear weather across the country on Friday night, but a few showers affecting parts of the northwest.

Saturday will have sunny spells and scattered showers.

There will be some heavy showers across the northern half of the country.
