Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast another week of warm conditions but big change on the way

Ireland is set to enjoy another few days of unseasonably warm weather before a dramatic change arrives at the weekend.

After a week of sunny spells and dry conditions, the country is set to bask under temperatures of over 20C as autumn arrives.

Met Eireann is predicting some glorious back to school sun and dry days before unsettled weather dominates again.

The mercury could rise above 20C most days this week before the big change hits.

The national forecaster says that Monday will be rather cloudy and mostly dry, apart from isolated patches of drizzle.

It will brighten up in places in the evening with some sunny spells developing later, and highest temperatures of 17 to 19C in the north and east and 19 to 21C in the south and west.

Monday night will be largely dry with a mix of cloud and some limited clear spells. It will become misty in places overnight with localised patches of fog forming, and lowest temperatures of 8 to 11C.

A forecaster continued: "Tuesday with be mainly dry with varying cloud cover. There will be sunny spells at times, the best of which across the west and northwest.

"There is a chance of a little drizzle at times locally. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20C ranging east to west, with a light to moderate northeasterly breeze."

The overview for the following says is that it will continue to be dry through much of the week with temperatures back to around average for the time of year in the high teens or low 20s.

Wednesday overall will be another dry day, with cloud building during the day with some bright or sunny spells, and highest temperatures of 17 to 20 or 21C.

It will be dry with long clear spells on Wednesday night, with lowest temperatures of 8 to 12C.

Met Eireann added: "Thursday will be generally dry again with a slight chance of a stray shower developing. Cloud cover will vary and there will be some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21C, with light easterly winds

"Friday will likely be quite cloudy for many areas. Many places will be dry but there is the chance of well scattered light showers. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20C with light southeast winds."

As for the weekend, the forecaster predicts more unsettled conditions as the big change to the weather arrives.

It said: "There are signs of the weather becoming less settled over the weekend with cloudier conditions, and some rain or showers likely later in the weekend. Temperatures will continue around average."

Met Eireann expects that in the following week from September 6, high pressure "will move away" bringing more rain and even some weather warnings.

A forecaster said: "Slightly above average rainfall and temperatures can be expected.

"The return of lower pressure could increase the risk of wind and rain related events for this period and warnings cannot be ruled out at this time."
