Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast 27 degrees heat to hold before big change arrives

As Ireland gets set to sizzle in the 27-degree heat this weekend, Met Eireann has said that the good conditions will continue into the early part of the weekend before "more showery conditions" arrive.

On Saturday and Sunday, the mercury is expected to range between 23 to 27 degrees in most parts of the country as high pressure builds over Ireland later this week, bringing mostly dry conditions with increasing amounts of warm sunshine.

In terms of the next few days, here's what's in store...

Wednesday morning and afternoon

Any lingering mist and drizzle in the east will quickly clear, however, it will remain rather cloudy through the day with patchy drizzle on the northern and western coasts.

The best of any bright or sunny spells will be in the south and east with the highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees.

Wednesday night

A dry night with clouds and patchy drizzle is on the horizon along the Atlantic coasts.

Thursday morning

A cloudy morning is expected to change as the day goes on with temperatures set to rise to as high as 24 degrees in the east of the country.

Elsewhere, the western and northern counties will reach 20 degrees with a few spots of drizzle occurring.

Thursday night

A dry night with light winds and temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Friday morning and afternoon

The morning will see cloud and patchy drizzle affecting northwestern coastal areas.

Elsewhere, it looks set to be dry and warm with spells of sunshine. The sunshine should spread to all areas by the evening with maximum temperatures ranging from 22 to 25 degrees.

The sun is set to sizzle parts of the country with temperatures ranging from 23 to 27 degrees in most parts but cooler in coastal areas. By night, it will be dry and humid but temperatures won't fall below 14 to 16 degrees around the country.

Weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather adds: "It is also going to get warmer and warmer over the coming days. Afternoon temperatures forecast for Thursday to Sunday shown on images here. Up to 27c possible by Sunday. Get those BBQs ready."

Early next week

Met Eireann has said: "Some uncertainty in the forecast but current indications suggest that high pressure will hold conditions warm and dry for Monday and Tuesday with high overnight temperatures too. There is a trend towards more showery conditions on Wednesday."
