Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast 18C temperature swing as warm plume replaced by big Arctic change

Met Eireann is forecasting an 18C temperature swing between day and night as a warm plume is replaced by a big Arctic change this week.

We've been experiencing some amazing weather so far this week and will continue to do so on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

This is thanks to a strong plume of very warm air which is bringing "atmospheric change in the mass of air" according to Europe Weather.

Despite this big burst, other weather experts are warning not to store away the umbrella and big coat forever just yet.

Carlow weather warned readers: "The weather models continue to show a plunge of cold air moving down from the Arctic from Easter Sunday".

While Weather Alerts Ireland added: "The evening models are still forecasting very cold Polar Air to push down over Ireland early next week. Still a week away so will be interesting to see how it progresses during the week."

Tuesday will be dry with good sunshine developing through the day with temperatures of 18C dropping to just 6C overnight.

Wednesday will be cloudy with temperatures lower than what we've been used to this week at 13C before dropping to 2C overnight.

There will be a sunburst on Thursday again with good sunshine and 18C temperatures across Ireland before that massive swing that we talked about.

Thursday night will be a dry and cold night with good clear spells as the Celsius drops to 0C in some places with frost developing.

Here's how the Bank Holiday weekend is looking according to Met Eireann:

Friday : "A dry day with good sunshine. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light northeasterly breezes."

Friday night : "Continuing largely dry but a cooler night than recent with lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees. Mist and fog will develop in light breezes and mostly clear skies."

Saturday : "A largely dry day but cloud will build from the north during the morning and afternoon but staying rather sunny in the south for much of the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light variable breezes becoming mainly westerly later."

Easter Sunday and Monday : "Rain followed by widespread showers will push down from the north for Sunday and Monday, turning wintry at times. Becoming breezy and turning cooler as a strengthening northerly airflow set in with widespread frosts at night."
