Met Eireann has confirmed two days of snow in Dublin and throughout the country this week as an urgent weather warning remains in place for Storm Bella.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see sub zero temperatures and wintry conditions with "periods of snow" in the east and west.
Monday will be blustery with widespread showers of rain or hail, some of which may turn wintry.
Highest temperatures of 6C will drop to zero overnight with showers remaining wintry and frost and ice developing in places.
As well as this, a status yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry until 2pm on Monday.
Met Eireann states: "This evening (Sunday) through to tomorrow (Monday), northwesterly winds associated with Storm Bella (named by the UK Met Office), veering northerly overnight, will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h. Winds will be stronger in exposed areas and on higher ground."
They added: With the combination of strong winds, high waves and forecasted storm surge, there is a risk of coastal flooding."
Here's how this week is looking according to Met Eireann:
Tomorrow: "Cold and breezy on Tuesday, with sunny spells and scattered showers, possibly wintry at times, but there will be bright and dry periods also. Afternoon temperatures of just 4 or 5 degrees in fresh northwesterly winds."
Tuesday night: "Very cold and frosty on Tuesday night with scattered wintry showers continuing near coasts in the west and northwest, mostly dry elsewhere for a time with clear spells and icy stretches developing as temperatures fall to between -3 and +2 degrees. A spell of rain will move into parts of the southwest and west late in the night, with the potential for some sleet and snow possible through the midlands and southeast in light to moderate cyclonic variable breezes."
Wednesday : "Another cold day on Wednesday with rain and sleet in parts of the west and south with a period of sleet or snow in the east. This will clear southwards in the evening. Afternoon temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees generally, however it will be warmer in the Munster with highs of 5 to 7 degrees in light to moderate cyclonic variable breezes."
Thursday: "(New Year's Eve) will continue cold, dry in many places with sunny spells, but there will be scattered showers in some northern and western coastal counties, some wintry on higher ground. Highs of just 3 to 6 degrees in moderate northwest winds."
Friday : "Cold on New Years' Day, most places will be dry with good sunny spells but there will be some isolated showers in coastal areas, Afternoon temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in light northerly breezes. Frosty overnight once again."
